Cedarcrest earns spot on College Board?s AP Honor Roll

Cedarcrest High School is among 17 districts in Washington and 539 nationally that are being honored by the College Board for achieving significant gains in both AP (Advanced Placement) access and student performance.

Cedarcrest has grown its AP offerings from just two courses in 1997 to 10 in 2012 and 11 in 2013. The percentage of students at CHS earning passing AP exam scores has increased from 55 percent in 1997 to more than 80 percent. In the 2011-12 school year, 145 AP student exams were administered as compared to only eight in 1997-98.

?We applaud the efforts of the devoted teachers and administrators in these 539 districts who are fostering rigorous work worth doing. These educators have not only expanded student access to AP course work, but they have enabled more of their students to achieve on a college level?which is helping to create a strong college-going culture,? said College Board President, David Coleman.

The College Board?s Advanced Placement Program (AP) enables willing and academically prepared students to pursue college-level studies, with the opportunity to earn college credit, advanced placement or both, while still in high school.
